How Our F1 Driver Rankings Are Scored: Explained
Ever wonder how we rank Formula 1 drivers each weekend? Our rankings are powered by our in-house Driver Ranking System 1.0 a custom-built formula that evolves constantly but forms the foundation of all driver scores for the 2025 season.
While most of the magic happens behind the scenes, the core logic is fully transparent. Let’s break it down 👇

🏁 The Overall Score
At the heart of our system is a weighted scoring model that factors in:
- Qualifying performance
- Race-day execution
- Team impact
- Situational elements like luck (e.g. crashes, weather, mechanical failures)
To put it simply:
Strong qualifying sets you up. Racecraft wins you the race. Team support makes both possible. And sometimes, luck plays a role.
Achieving a perfect score means dominating every session and having a teammate performing at a similarly high level. This reflects both individual brilliance and team synergy the true hallmark of F1 excellence.
Also, only point-scoring performances are eligible for high scores, keeping our rankings aligned with the spirit of real-world competition.
Important: Sprint and conventional weekends are scored independently to reflect their different formats.
🔧 Team Score
Our Team Score is still under refinement but already plays a key role. It evaluates:
- Expected team performance vs. actual results
- Intra-team comparison (driver vs. teammate)
- Car potential vs. track outcome
Delivering beyond the car’s capabilities and outperforming your teammate boosts your score. Falling short? You’ll see it reflected in the rankings.
⏱️ Qualifying Performance
Qualifying is all about expectation vs. execution. A stellar lap that beats the odds? Big points. A sloppy session in a top-tier car? Expect deductions.
🏎️ Race Performance
This is where the real weight lies:
Sunday is what counts most in F1.
We look at:
- Overtakes and defensive moves
- Strategic aggression
- Raw pace
- And of course, your final position when the checkered flag drops
The race result carries the heaviest influence on your total score just like in the real world of Formula 1.
❄️ No Bias. Just Data.
Every score is 100% data-driven. No opinions. No favorites. Just performance, plain and simple.
Stay tuned as the system evolves, we’ll continue to keep the logic transparent so you can follow every point, pass, and podium with confidence.
Let the best driver win. 🏆
